Photoshop CS3 Make a button with mirror effect
In this tutorial I will show you how to make a button like the one pictured below in very easy to understand steps.
First start off by making the basic shape of your button from the Shapes tool in the tool bar.
Next step is to add the visual styles of the button that you wish to use, I have provided a screenshot of each style setting I’ve used for you to see,
Generally, it is, Bevel and Emboss as well as Gradient.
Next step is to duplicate the shape for use as the “mirror effect”. Simply right click (PC) or Control Click (Mac) to get your menu, then select Duplicate…
You should see this window;
Click on Ok.
Next, turn off your Bevel and Emboss Style Setting for the duplicated shape, this can be done by clicking on the “Eye” icon under your shape’s layer, next to Bevel and Emboss.
Next step is to morph our duplicated shape into the way we want our “mirror effect” to go. For example, play with the horizontal Screw control when modifying the physical properties of your shape until you are happy. Then reduce or enlarge the height of your duplicated shape.
Next step is to align the duplicated and now morphed shape, into it’s position.
Finally, Now we have it all into position, play with the opacity control of the duplicated layer until you are happy with it, it should generally be barely visible in the darkened side of the gradient.
Add the finishing touches, like some text, move the morphed image until it looks spot on and you have the finished product!
Hope you enjoyed this tutorial, and the finished product is available for download here;
